This is a beautiful apartment in a great part of Amsterdam, overlooking a canal. It is in a residential section, but you can walk to stores and cafes within about 5-10 minutes. There is a great supermarket called Albert Heijn which is about 10 minutes away….you can find EVERYTHING there – great food! Also a really nice Italian restaurant and lots of cafe’s and eateries. The walk to the Centraal Station was about 20 minutes, but we really enjoyed the walk, as it took us along very interesting shops and cafes on cobblestone streets with a lot of character and history. The building is somewhat modern, with an elevator, making it easy to bring up your luggage. The apartment itself is extremely spacious, modern, and comfortable, with all the little things that are nice to have around. The kitchen was large and stocked with everything you could need – they even had tea, coffee, sugar, and lots of other stuff like packaged soups and grains, if you’d want it. The king size bed was extremely comfortable, the shower was great, and everything was very clean – a very important point for me. The host (Marianne) was exceptional – she was extremely responsive to every email, helpful beyond belief, and forthcoming with all kinds of tips and resources. She quickly arranged a taxi for us when we landed in the airport, which ended up being about 20 Euros less than had we just taken one from the airport queue. She was welcoming and friendly, and ALWAYS available. She was amazing! We LOVED our stay in this apartment, and were sorry to have to leave it after only 3 days! We really felt like “locals” and after just one day, already started to know our way around. I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone who appreciates comfort, beauty, and convenience, and an amazing host who will do anything to be of assistance!
